Excerpts from the Social Work in Libraries Lecture Series
SICS Radio November 23, 2023
In this month’s edition of SICS Radio we bring you excerpts from a lecture series organised by the CSU Social Work in Libraries research group as part of their Online Simulation Hub – a project led by Dr Sabine Wardle and Dr Kasey Garrison, and funded by a grant from the Australian Government National Priorities and Industry Link Fund. The first speaker is Dr. Beth Wahler, research faculty affiliate and previous director of the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and founder of Beth Wahler Consulting, whose talk is on the topic of trauma-informed librarianship. The second half of the program features an excerpt from a lecture titled A Light in the Dark: Courage, Protection, and the Public Library delivered by Patrick Lloyd, a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
To hera the full lectures, or to hear other lectures in the series, including talks by Leanne Mitchell (Can Libraries End Homelessness? Stories and Reflections from a Churchill Fellowship) and Mary Provence (Library Social Work Practice Models and Implications for Structuring Your Library Social Work Program) visit the lecture series site here.
