Early Childhood Education: A Feminised Industry
2 November, 2023
Conversations for a Brave New World” is produced by the Gender Network (feminist, gender and queer research and practice) at CSU. We bring global, national and local issues about gender to the Central West. Each month we share knowledge, scholarship and research about gender from the diverse perspectives of experts and scholars.
This month’s show “Early Childhood Education: A Feminised Industry” addresses the problem of low pay and unequal conditions in this industry. Donna talks to Dr Tamara Cumming from Macquarie University about the historical legacy of feminisation issues in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and the what can be done about them and to Kate Damo from the Independent Education Union of Australia about initiatives occurring to create better conditions for early childhood educators.
