Gender and Precarious Work in Higher Education

Conversations for a Brave New World” is produced by the Gender Network (feminist, gender and queer research and practice) at CSU. We bring global, national and local issues about gender to the Central West. Each month we share knowledge, scholarship and research about gender from the diverse perspectives of experts and scholars.

This month’s show “Gender issues in the university sector: The case of precarious work” highlights the escalating trend of casual work in universities and its unfair impact on women. This month our expert guests Emma Rush, Sarah Redshaw, Elizabeth Wulff and Larissa Bamberry discuss how precarious work contributes to employment insecurity, income inadequacy, and a lack of employment rights and protections.
