The featured album was THE LACEMAKERS – THE LOST ART OF TELLING by JACKIE OATES AND JOHN SPIERS www.jackieoates.co.uk www.johnspiers.co.uk (self published). The recording, presented as a radio ballad, explores the long-lost tradition of lace “telling”, songs sung by the lace making girls of Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire. There is also a standard format album, “Needle Pin, Needle Pin” which incorporates the songs from this recording with some other musical material. This recording made up most of the second half of today’s program and included the following tracks:
